Junction with Calumet River line. SC&S Branch remains from Calumet Park through Hegewisch, continuing north as Calumet River line without an interlocking.

BURNHAM
Mechanical interlocking installed 1893
Burned winter 1975-1976, trailer replaced tower
Closed September 27, 1995, remotely controlled by NS operator at Cummings Bridge.

Crossing with Norfolk Southern (former Nickel Plate) and South Shore Line, paralleling each other. Until 1990's the Chicago & Western Indiana main line also existed here, paralleling the Nickel Plate and the South Shore Line in between.

CALUMET PARK

Interlocking rebuilt 1912
Burned 1977, remotely controlled from nearby Hohman Tower

Former crossing with Baltimore & Ohio Chicago Terminal and Indiana Harbor Belt, paralleling each other. SC&S branch only remains north of here. This is also a junction of Indiana Harbor Belt main line, and branch northwest to Kensington. Branch dates from when Indiana Harbor Belt route was Michigan Central route in and out of Chicago, connecting with Illinois Central at Kensington.
