Illinois Division

Much of route abandoned, remainder now owned by CSX.

Prior to installation of CTC, described below, many of these towers had primarily served as block stations, also controlling siding switches on the single track line.

Closed 1953, replaced with CTC installation in Mattoon

MIDLAND (Paris)
Mechanical interlocking installed 1892
Closed 1980's

Former crossing with New York Central Cairo Branch, not included in Conrail 1976 extending south and abandoned. With abandonment of this line west of this location, this location became where a newly formed line made a curve.

Former crossing of New York Central Illinois Division and paralleling Baltimore & Ohio Springfield Subdivision, with Illinois Central Clinton District, abandoned 1980's. After 1904, a junction with Chicago & Eastern Illinois, with trackage rights via New York Central west to St. Louis.
