Now owned by Metra.
Multiple track line. Railroad operated Dearborn Station, and was jointly owned by and provided access for the various railroads using the station. Dearborn Station was closed May 1, 1971, with the creation of Amtrak. Presumably this eliminated the need for all towers north of 21st Street. Control of 21st Street tower eventually went to Amtrak, as part of the Union Station trackage. In 1973, one of the earliest CTC installations to use computer screen displays was installed at 47th Street tower, enabling closure of three other towers. Trackage now owned by Metra from 21st Street to 74th Street for its Southwest trains.
