AMERICA'S STREAMLINERS

SOUTHERN PACIFIC

(POST WW II)

Little modernization took place with Southern Pacific's streamliners immediately after the war, with some shifting around of equipment assignments. The Noon Daylight was restored in 1946, but later in 1949 was replaced with the all coach Starlight, operating overnight and complementing the all sleeper Lark.

Southern Pacific also participated with Union Pacific in operation of trains operating east of San Francisco, most notably the City of San Francisco. And Southern Pacific jointly operated the Golden State, with the Rock Island.
