NORFOLK & WESTERN
(POST WW II)
The Powhatan Arrow was Norfolk & Western's daytime train over its main line between Norfolk and Cincinnati, and was the only train to be streamlined. Although shrouded steam locomotives were used well into the 1950's. As Norfolk & Western, operating throughout major coal producing regions of the country, was the last major railroad to switch from steam to diesel locomotives.
Only streamlined trains and the most important stations are shown.
