AMERICA'S STREAMLINERS

NEW HAVEN

(POST WW II)

Included the north end of what now is Amtrak's Northeast Corridor. Although service under Amtrak between Boston and New York is not as comprehensive as service over the former Pennsylvania Railroad between New York and Washington, the New Haven did more modernization of its service, than what was done by the Pennsylvania Railroad. Most of the hourly trains between Boston and New York were streamlined. And except for the through trains to and from Washington via the Pennsylvania Railroad, the New Haven trains used Grand Central Terminal in New York City. A practice ended by Amtrak in 1971.

Only streamlined trains and the most important stations are shown.
