AMERICA'S STREAMLINERS

MISSOURI PACIFIC

(POST WW II)

Operated several streamliners known as Eagles. The Missouri River Eagle operated over the route presently used by Amtrak between St. Louis and Kansas City, and north to Omaha. Joining that train in 1942 was the Colorado Eagle, which was probably the last streamliner introduced in America, before war time demands prevented construction of more new cars. The most significant train was the Texas Eagle, which was actually scheduled as two separate trains. Through sleepers to and from New York City and Washington DC connected at St. Louis with the Pennsylvania Railroad's Penn Texas. Amtrak's present day Texas Eagle actually operates over a combination of the previous Texas Eagle routes.
