#240-#249 were numbered for subsidiary Texas & New Orleans, and were reassigned to freight service before renumbering into a common Southern Pacific scheme.

#650-#652 were numbered for subsidiary Texas & New Orleans.

#3020-#3035 and #3186-#3196 were used in commuter service between San Francisco and San Jose. Numbers reflect a 1965 renumbering. And #3200-#3209 were later used in commuter service.

#5916-#5917 and #6017 were originally jointly owned with Union Pacific, for the City of San Francisco. In 1953, #6017 was upgraded to an E7A.

In addition, Southern Pacific adapted various F7A's and F7B's from freight to passenger service, reassignment and renumbering was complicated.
