The major stations serving St. Joseph, during the golden age of passenger trains.

Union Depot
Opened in 1896
Location: 1200 S. 6th St.
Railroads: Santa Fe, Burlington Route, Chicago Great Western, Rock Island, Missouri Pacific, Union Pacific
Building demolished.

Between 1959 and 1961, all remaining railroads moved out of Union Depot to their own stations, prior to discontinuing all passenger trains.

Prior to the 1930's, also using Union Station were Missouri Pacific passenger trains, reaching St. Joseph via trackage rights over CB&Q.

St. Joseph Union Station was operated by St. Joseph Terminal Railroad.

Santa Fe had trackage rights via Rock Island west to Atchison. Chicago Great Western used 7 miles of trackage rights via Santa Fe south of St. Joseph, and 1 mile of trackage rights via Burlington Route north of St. Joseph. And Union Pacific had trackage rights via Rock Island from St. Joseph to Troy KS, 13 miles west.
