WHEATON/DU PAGE COUNTY

Routes mainly serving Wheaton, and other points in Du Page County. Service was generally operated by contract operators, often school bus companies. Some of these routes were eventually discontinued.

Pace Contract Operations
Overview of some of the privately owned bus companies, notably school bus operations, which provided bus service for Pace under contract.


711 - Wheaton-Addison - introduced 11/26/79, providing all day service, and was operating between Wheaton and Stratford Square Mall when mall opened in 1981. Extended east into Addison 6/9/2008. Operated under contract by Commuter Bus Systems until 1986, subsequently operated by Du Page Motor Coach Co./Glen Ellyn, later Vancom and Laidlaw. From 1997 until 2002, route operated by Ryder Student Transportation, before again being operated by Laidlaw. In 2008, route assumed by MV Transportation/Batavia.

712 - Carol Stream Industrial Park - introduced 11/26/79 as reverse rush hour feeder route. Effective 8/21/87, redesignated as reverse feeder service of route #708, consolidated into route #711 effective 4/3/2000. Was operated under contract by Commuter Bus Systems.

712 - Wheaton Shuttle - introduced in 1991, as shuttle from Wheaton Metra station to Du Page County government complex, which had moved away from the center of Wheaton to an outlying area. Discontinued 6/9/2008, replaced with extension of route #747. Was operated under contract by Du Page Motor Coach Co./Glen Ellyn, later Vancom and Laidlaw. From 1997 until 2002, route operated by Ryder Student Transportation, before again being operated by Laidlaw.

713 - Wheaton-Naperville - introduced 11/26/79 as reverse rush hour feeder route, discontinued 6/9/2008. Was operated under contract by Commuter Bus Systems until 1986, subsequently operated by Kammes Bus Service. Until 1997, operated by Du Page Motor Coach Co./Glen Ellyn, later Vancom and Laidlaw. From 1997 until 2002, route operated by Ryder Student Transportation, before again being operated by Laidlaw.

714 - Naperville-College of Du Page - introduced 9/7/76, discontinued 6/7/85.

714 - College of Du Page-Naperville-Wheaton - introduced 8/7/2006, operated by Pace Fox Valley Division.

715 - Central Du Page - introduced 1/3/78, providing all day service between Darien and Wheaton. Extended north of Glen Ellyn 6/9/2008 to Addison, with segment from Glen Ellyn to Wheaton discontinued. Operated under contract by Commuter Bus Systems until 1986, subsequently operated by Kammes Bus Service. Until 1997, operated by Du Page Motor Coach Co./Glen Ellyn, later Vancom and Laidlaw. From 1997 until 2002, route operated by Ryder Student Transportation, before again being operated by Laidlaw. In 2008, route assumed by MV Transportation/Batavia.

716 - Wheaton-Du Page Center - introduced 8/13/79, combined into route #711 effective 3/6/81.

716 - Winfield - short lived route introduced 11/27/89, discontinued.

717 - Naperville-Oak Brook Express - introduced 9/26/83, connecting Naperville Metra station with Oak Brook office areas, discontinued 10/25/85. Was operated under contract by Commuter Bus Systems.

722 - Ogden Avenue - introduced 6/13/2016 between Naperville and Yorktown Mall, operated by Pace Fox Valley Division.
