Pace Contract Operations
Overview of some of the privately owned bus companies, notably school bus operations, which provided bus service for Pace under contract.
601 - Wood Dale Office Corridor - reverse feeder rush hour route introduced 10/19/92 between Wood Dale Metra station and office areas north of station. Originally operated under contract by Du Page Motor Coach Co./Glen Ellyn, later Vancom and Laidlaw. In 2000, direct operation assumed by Pace through its Northwest Division. Discontinued 6/3/2005.
603 - Elgin-Rosemont Express - introduced 12/19/2016 as part of expanded I-90 Corridor service. Operated by Pace River Division.
604 - Wheeling-Schaumburg - introduced 12/19/2016 as part of expanded I-90 Corridor service. Operated by Pace Northwest Division.
605 - Randall P&R-Rosemont Express - introduced 12/19/2016 as part of expanded I-90 Corridor service, serving new Park & Ride lot at Randall Road and Interstate 90. Operated by Pace River Division.
606 - Rosemont-Schaumburg Limited - introduced 9/15/86, as rush hour express route connecting the Cumberland CTA station with Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, and the surrounding office developments. And within a few years, service began operating all day, and serving the Rosemont/River Road CTA station instead. Effective 4/24/95, began serving the new Northwest Transportation Center in Schaumburg, a large bus terminal two blocks south of Woodfield Mall. Originally operated under contract by CW Transportation, operation during most years has been by Keeshin Charter Service, although from 1993 to 1995 was operated by Mayflower Transportation. In 2003, operation assumed by Colonial Coach Lines/Academy Coach Lines. Around 2012, direct operation assumed by Pace through its Northwest Division.
607 - Woodfield-Center Court - existed 1/26/87 to 8/4/89.
607 - Randall P&R-Schaumburg Express - introduced 12/19/2016 as part of expanded I-90 Corridor service, serving new Park & Ride lot at Randall Road and Interstate 90. Operated by Pace River Division.
608 - Roselle-Schaumburg - introduced 12/19/2016 as part of expanded I-90 Corridor service. Operated by Pace West Division. Service suspended effective 5/18/2020 due to covid-19 pandemic.
610 - Rosemont-Prairie Stone Express - introduced 8/3/92, after Sears abandoned its Sears Tower headquarters in favor of its Prairie Stone headquarters complex in suburban Hoffman Estates. Operated under contract by Colonial Coach Lines until 2005, when direct operation assumed by Pace through its Northwest Division. And in 2016, assumed by River Division. Service suspended effective 5/18/2020 due to covid-19 pandemic.
611 - Mundelein-Libertyville - rush hour feeder route might have existed since the 1963 demise of the North Shore Line. During 1970's was operated by Great Lakes Bus Lines, assumed by Waukegan-North Chicago Transit Co. effective 12/18/78, discontinued 6/8/81. Now, Metra's new North Central Service would make such a route unnecessary.
611 - North Schaumburg - introduced 12/19/2016 as part of expanded I-90 Corridor service. Operated by Pace River Division. Service suspended effective 5/18/2020 due to covid-19 pandemic.
612 - Barrington Road Circulator - introduced 8/13/2018 as part of expanded I-90 Corridor service. Operated by Pace River Division. Service suspended during covid-19 pandemic.
615 - Itasca Industrial - short lived reverse feeder rush hour route introduced 10/2/2000 between Itasca Metra station and industrial park northwest of the station. Operated under contract by Laidlaw Villa Park division.
616 - Rosemont-Itasca Limited - introduced 9/28/87, original route name Hamilton Lakes Limited. Serves the Chancellory, a huge cluster of suburban skyscrapers directly west of O'Hare Airport. Originally operated under contract by CW Transportation, operation during most years has been by Keeshin Charter Service, although from 1993 to 1995 was operated by Mayflower Transportation. In 2003, operation assumed by by Colonial Coach Lines/Academy Coach Lines. Around 2012, direct operation assumed by Pace through its Northwest Division. And in 2016, assumed by River Division. Service suspended effective 5/18/2020 due to covid-19 pandemic.
618 - Union Station-Lake Cook Express - introduced 8/17/2015, supplementing Metra service, with a reverse commute trip operating earlier than the first Metra departure. Discontinued 4/4/2016. Operated by Pace North Shore Division.
619 - Des Plaines Station-Willow Rd Corridor - introduced 1/3/2011, operated by Pace North Shore Division. Service suspended effective 4/13/2020 due to covid-19 pandemic.
620 - Yellow Line Dempster-Allstate - rush hour reverse feeder route introduced 8/19/2013, operated by Pace North Shore Division. Service suspended effective 4/13/2020 due to covid-19 pandemic.
