All trolleybuses were numbered 51-761 until 1952, when CTA renumbered all buses on the property into the 9000's. This was to avoid duplication with numbers of buses acquired with the Chicago Motor Coach Co. at that time. Buses 9762 and 9763 had been originally numbered 998 and 999.
