Line was originally affiliated with Soo Line predecessor Wisconsin Central, acquired in 1889 by Chicago & Northern Pacific Railroad, 1897 by Chicago Terminal Transfer Railroad, and 1910 by Baltimore & Ohio Chicago Terminal Railroad.
