Originally, the only single track segment was between Sedley and Valparaiso, with CTC installed in 1933. West of Munster, line in 2013 was transferred from CN to CSX control, with the shift of more CN traffic to the Matteson Subdivision (former Elgin Joliet & Eastern) west of Griffith.
