Intercity trains operated until the formation of Amtrak in 1971, with Elkhart and Waterloo the only surviving stations when passenger service was discontinued. Amtrak restored service in 1975.

Goshen (411.3) - station was located east of the crossing with New York Central's former Big Four line south to Marion, on the north side of the tracks. A short distance north of this station was the former Big Four station.
Ligonier (396.3) - station was located at the north end of Water St., on the south side of the tracks.
Kendallville (379.7) - Union Station was located at the southeast quadrant of the crossing with the Pennsylvania Railroad Grand Rapids & Indiana line, which also used the station.
Corunna (373.4) - station was located at the north end of Hope St., on the south side of the tracks.
Waterloo (367.0) - station was located at the northeast quadrant of the crossing with the New York Central Fort Wayne Branch, which also used the station. The new Amtrak station is a short distance east of that location.
Butler (359.1) - station was located at the south end of Eastern Ave., on the north side of the tracks.
