Peterborough, 76 miles North of King's Cross Station, on the East Coast Main Line to Edinburgh. This was prior to electrification, and shortly after introduction of the high speed diesel Intercity 125 trains. Speed limit signs are visible on on the through tracks, 105 mph going away from us, and the back of a 115 mph sign coming towards us. Also visible between the rails are Automatic Warning System (AWS) inductors, which is similar to Automatic Train Stop (ATS) systems used on some USA lines.

Leicester, 99 miles north of St. Pancras Station. This is the north end of the station. At the time mechanical semaphore signals still existed, controlled from the signal box (signal tower to Americans), visible beyond the overpass.

Crewe, 158 miles northwest of London's Euston Station, on the West Coast Main Line to Glasgow.
