MILWAUKEE STREETCARS - 1917

Map shows electric railway trackage in Milwaukee. For many years, streetcar service was provided by The Milwaukee Electric Railway & Light Co., with trackage shown in orange. In addition, various interurban lines radiated out of Milwaukee in various directions. Thicker lines indicate interurban trackage on private right of way. Dashed lines indicate trackage abandoned prior to 1917.

Trackage of the Chicago North Shore & Milwaukee Railroad is shown in green. Local streetcar service was provided on 6th Street until 1951. Thicker line indicates private interurban right of way, mostly on an embankment.

Trackage of the Milwaukee Northern Railway is shown in blue. Milwaukee Northern also provided local streetcar service, thicker line indicates private interurban right of way. Milwaukee Northern was absorbed by The Milwaukee Electric Railway & Light Co. in 1928.

Route numbers are shown in parentheses, with most route numbers still in use by today's bus routes.
