All streetcar lines and most of the interurban lines were broad gauge (5 feet). Standard gauge interurban lines included a former Louisville & Nashville steam railroad operating northeast to Prospect, and the Interstate Public Service Co. line operating north into Indiana. This standard gauge trackage in the downtown Louisville area is also shown in brown.
In Kentucky, the local streetcar lines were operated by the Louisville Railway Co., and the interurban lines were operated by the Louisville & Interurban Railroad Co. Both companies were owned by holding company Louisville Traction Co.
Not shown are three streetcar segments abandoned in 1922, on Liberty St., Hancock St., and a line connecting the downtown train stations.
