SMART stands for Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation. Most of SMART's buses are TMC and Nova RTS models, including #9512, built by Nova in 1995 and seen in downtown Detroit near Cadillac Square. Many of SMART's buses are numbered according to the year built.
SMART also uses some smaller buses in scheduled service, including Champion Centurian #95368, built in 1995 and seen in downtown Detroit.
In 1999, SMART acquired some buses from Blue Bird, including #9904, on Woodward at Jefferson in downtown Detroit. The downtown People Mover is seen in the background, above Larned.
In 1992 and 1993, SMART acquired some buses from Gillig, in varying lengths. 35 foot Gillig #9370 is seen in downtown Detroit, with the Renaissance Center in the background.
SMART's first low floor buses were acquired from Gillig in 2001. This new bus #2132 is seen eastbound on Michigan Ave. in Dearborn, headed for Detroit on the #200 route.
