Typical scene along the CA&E route east of West Chicago.
Immediately west of West Chicago, the CA&E crossed over the Elgin Joliet and Eastern Railroad main line, and the Chicago and North Western (now Union Pacific) Railroad's Belvidere Branch, on a bridge. View is looking west.
A prairie area west of West Chicago, still preserved in its natural state.
Between West Chicago and Geneva, the CA&E right of way had continued straight, in this view looking west. But runway expansion at Du Page County Airport has cut into the original right of way, and the Illinois Prairie Path curves to the south to get around the airport property. The airport is towards the right.
The CA&E route east of Geneva.
The path ends at East Side Drive in Geneva. View is looking west towards East Side Drive.
The east end of this path, at Geneva Road and County Farm Road, is 3 miles northwest of the Wheaton Metra station via the path to Elgin. If one has already walked the Elgin path, the Geneva path can also be accessed at Geneva Road and Winfield Road, one mile directly north of the Winfield Metra station. The route through West Chicago passes near the Metra station there, if it is desirable to not walk the entire path at once. In Geneva, the west end of the path is at East Side Drive, at a location 1/4 mile north of State Street (State Highway 38). The Geneva Metra Station is on Third Street, 6 blocks south of State Street. And East Side Drive is 1 mile east of Third Street. At certain times, some walking in Geneva can be saved by using the Pace #801 and #802 bus routes, which serve the Geneva Metra station.
