BROOKDALE
Non interlocked crossing

Former crossing between an Illinois Central freight connection to and from the South Chicago branch, and the Baltimore & Ohio Brookdale Subdivision, abandoned 1971. An interlocking temporarily existed in 1893 for the World's Fair. The Brookdale Subdivision was the original Baltimore & Ohio route into Chicago, using trackage rights over the Illinois Central to reach downtown.

The Brookdale Subdivision was the original Baltimore & Ohio route into Chicago, using trackage rights over the Illinois Central to reach downtown. South of this location, the Baltimore & Ohio line paralleled the Illinois Central to the east.
