AMERICA'S STREAMLINERS
SOUTHERN RAILWAY
(PRE WW II)
The Southern Railway, known for its steam excursion trains in the 1970's and 1980's, actually was an early railroad to completely dieselize. Although the Tennessean and other trains were jointly operated with Norfolk and Western, the last major railroad to adopt diesel locomotives, and Southern's future merger partner.
Only streamlined trains and the most important stations are shown.
