AMERICA'S STREAMLINERS
SANTA FE
(PRE WW II)
Most of the great Santa Fe streamliners included "Chief" as part of the name. The train simply named the Chief operated daily between Chicago and Los Angeles. While the more famous and more luxurious Super Chief over the same route did not operate daily until 1947. The Super Chief was all sleeping cars, while the all coach counterpart on that route was El Capitan. Additional pre war streamliners included the Kansas Cityan (westbound) and Chicagoan (eastbound), along with trains in two corridors in California.
