STATIONS TODAY

The Great Northern station has been demolished. After the creation of Amtrak in 1971, this was the one Twin Cities stop, until the modest new Midway station opened in 1978, between the Twin Cities. In 2014, Amtrak moved to the restored St. Paul Union Depot, directly accessible from Minneapolis via a light rail line which also opened in 2014.

The Milwaukee Road station remains standing.

The Seventh Street Station has been demolished. A short distance north of there is the Target Field station for a new commuter rail operation.
