Passenger service retained by Amtrak in 1971.

Trains 12-23 evolved into a commuter train between Milwaukee and Watertown, which remained in existence until 1972, independent of Amtrak.

Until the early 1930's, also using the Milwaukee Road station were Soo Line passenger trains, using trackage rights over the Milwaukee Road to and from Milwaukee.

Passenger service discontinued in 1971 with the creation of Amtrak.

In 1966, remaining trains were moved to the new Milwaukee Road station.

STATIONS TODAY

Both the old Milwaukee Road and Chicago & North Western stations have been demolished. Freeway construction and street reconfigurations have made those areas unrecognizable compared to when the stations existed.

Amtrak continues to use the new Milwaukee Road station, opened in 1965. The new station is located at 433 W. St. Paul Ave., a short distance south of the old Milwaukee Road station.

The newer Milwaukee Road station, as originally built, seen in 1974.

By 2007, the Milwaukee Road station had received a facelift.
