WAUKEGAN STREETCAR MAP

Map shows trackage in Waukegan and North Chicago owned by the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad. The local streetcar system is shown in red, while the main interurban route is shown in green. The original interurban line used the streetcar route south towards Evanston. But in 1905, the new interurban line was constructed through Waukegan's west side proceeding north to Kenosha and Milwaukee. Some interurban trains terminating in Waukegan continued to use the older streetcar route from the south.

The streetcar system in Waukegan eventually evolved into the present Pace bus system. Pace route 563 operates south via Sheridan Road, and Pace route 572 operates west via Washington Street, somewhat following the original streetcar routes. None of the present north side Pace bus routes follow the old streetcar route.
